OpenAI rebuilds its Git backend for concurrent agent work
Pando keeps Git client compatibility while handling more simultaneous pushes and reads in OpenAI’s monorepo.
Tools: Git · Codex
What happened
OpenAI described Pando, the backend now serving its monorepo. The design lets unrelated branches receive updates concurrently and reuses packs of Git objects to serve reads.
OpenAI reports that the migration kept the existing Git client workflow. Its latency figures come from its own production system.
What this means for you · Roseram analysis
When coding agents multiply parallel jobs, measure Git and CI separately. A faster push will only shorten delivery if the repository is the bottleneck. Check queue time, repeated fetches and test capacity before changing infrastructure.
