OpenAI reports a jump in EU small-business agent use
More firms in OpenAI’s sample use tools that do tasks. More use alone does not prove better results.

What happened
OpenAI published new EU usage research on October 14. It says weekly active users of Codex and ChatGPT Work at small and medium businesses grew 8.1 times since May 2026. Its definition covers businesses with up to 200 associated users.
The report also says these tools account for more than half of output tokens in its EU enterprise sample. Tokens are small pieces of text or other model data. They measure activity, not profit or work quality.

The shift is from asking a helper a question to giving it a task. That can be useful. It still leaves a simple question: did the work get better?
Try one repeat job, such as drafting a weekly report. Count the time to check and fix it. Compare that with doing it by hand. More tool use should earn its place by helping people finish useful work.
