Microsoft reshapes Copilot around Home, Code and Autopilot
The company presented a unified work surface, a way to build solutions, and a persistent agent that can continue tasks.
Tools: Copilot · GitHub Copilot
What happened
Microsoft introduced three Copilot capabilities on September 25. Home combines Chat and Cowork with Office work. Code is intended for building solutions and uses technology behind GitHub Copilot. Autopilot is a persistent agent with identity, memory, computer, and workspace in a customer tenant. Home and Code are rolling out through the Frontier program; Autopilot is expanding to private preview.
Why it matters
The announcement joins AI chat, delegated work, and software creation in one product story. Availability is staged, and Microsoft says agentic capabilities use usage-based billing, so teams should examine controls and expected spend before rollout.
