More model choice reaches coding tools, with a gradual rollout and usage-based billing.

What happened

GitHub added Gemini 4 Argon to Copilot on October 13. Its post lists Pro+, Max, Business, and Enterprise users. Supported tools include VS Code, Copilot CLI, and the Copilot coding agent.

GitHub says the rollout is gradual. Team admins can manage access through model settings. The model uses provider list pricing under usage-based billing. Check the linked pricing rules before a long task.

What this means for you · Roseram analysis

The model picker is a choice, not a promise. A new model may suit one job better than another. Test it on a small change before handing it a whole project.

Use a spare branch. Ask for one fix, inspect the changed files, and run the app. Note the bill as well as the result. If the model is missing, check rollout and team settings before trying to repair your project.
