Air AI FTC settlement proposal: earnings claims, refunds and buyer checks
Proposed FTC settlement · Record dated 2026-03-24 · Sources checked 2026-10-12
What the public record shows
The FTC’s March 2026 announcement describes a proposed settlement over allegations about Air AI earnings, service performance and refund guarantees. The proposed order would ban marketing business opportunities and includes an $18 million judgment largely suspended for inability to pay, with $50,000 payable for consumer relief.
Where the promise broke
An impressive voice-agent demonstration does not establish that a license purchaser can acquire customers profitably or enforce a promised buy-back. Our buyer workflow separates the software test from the commercial arrangement: verify a real call scenario, list recurring costs, inspect who owns the customer relationship and ask for the exact refund conditions. An agent that speaks convincingly is only one component of a viable service business.
What this record does not establish
The release says the order was proposed and that stipulated orders have legal force when approved and signed by the judge. We do not claim a later court-entry date from that announcement. The headline judgment is not money actually paid, nor a promise of a particular individual refund. The allegations and proposed remedies remain labelled accordingly.
The buyer lesson
Keep written earnings assumptions, cancellation terms and required expenditure before payment. Model acquisition cost, service cost and support time using your own scenario. Ask what happens when a customer disputes a call or the upstream model changes. Testimonials are not a forecast. Preserve the sales materials and contract so discrepancies can be evaluated against what was actually represented.
