CUSTOMER ACCOUNT / ATTRIBUTED EVIDENCE
What this case establishes
This is a commercial publisher’s customer account. Roseram checked the source and wrote the analysis; it did not interview the customer, run the product, audit the figures or establish that AI caused the reported business result. The pilot below is a proposal, not a completed experiment.

Sentry: the documented workflow
Anthropic describes Sentry’s Seer moving from root-cause analysis toward pull-request generation through Managed Agents. The source reports the scale of processed analyses and integration speed. A generated fix remains a candidate: the publication does not prove that every diagnosis is correct or that a merge-ready label can replace a project’s release checks.
The mechanism worth examining
Production telemetry can connect an exception with its revision and surrounding execution context. That gives an assistant more useful evidence than a pasted error string alone. The key step is converting the observation into a reproducible behavior. Without that bridge, a patch may remove the visible exception while leaving corrupted state or a failing customer journey behind. The diagnosis should explain what happened and what check will show it is resolved.
The implementation decision
Choose a recoverable nonproduction incident with a known cause. Decide which telemetry fields are necessary and redact raw user content before sharing it. Provide the corresponding source revision and a controlled reproduction. Review access separately from convenience: an agent that can inspect an event should not automatically gain the power to deploy a fix or change incident policy.
Where the workflow can fail
A stack trace can point to where a failure surfaced rather than where it began. Retries, stale caches and downstream outages may all produce similar symptoms. Require alternative hypotheses when evidence is incomplete. Inspect whether the proposed change suppresses reporting or catches every error instead of addressing the cause. Preserve monitoring after the patch so a false recovery does not become invisible.
A practical evaluation, designed for this use case
Ask the agent to produce an evidence-linked diagnosis, a minimal patch and a regression case that fails before the change. Have a maintainer review the causal chain independently. Run the reproduction, verify a normal customer path and confirm the telemetry still reports future failures. Track incorrect diagnoses and time through accepted repair, not merely the time needed to open a pull request.

The decision matrix
Original evaluation criteria for this workflow. These are questions to test, not results measured by Roseram.
| Decision | Evidence to collect | Stop or revise when |
|---|---|---|
| Diagnosis | Observation linked to reproduced cause | Stack location is treated as origin |
| Telemetry privacy | Necessary fields redacted | Raw customer payloads enter context |
| Repair completeness | Regression and monitoring preserved | Exceptions are hidden rather than fixed |

Questions this case answers
Does root-cause analysis scale mean all diagnoses are accurate?
No. Throughput and accuracy are different measures; validate a representative set of diagnoses.
Is a catch-all error handler a repair?
It may improve presentation, but it does not by itself correct the underlying behavior.

Wiki brief
Sentry is examined here for root-cause evidence and automated repair. The article answers “What evidence should an AI debugging agent carry into a patch?” using linked primary material and original evaluation design. It is not a customer testimonial for Roseram or an endorsement by Sentry.
Operator takeaways
- Match telemetry to source revision.
- Require a causal regression case.
- Preserve observability after repair.
