CUSTOMER ACCOUNT / ATTRIBUTED EVIDENCE
What this case establishes
This is a commercial publisher’s customer account. Roseram checked the source and wrote the analysis; it did not interview the customer, run the product, audit the figures or establish that AI caused the reported business result. The pilot below is a proposal, not a completed experiment.

Semgrep: the documented workflow
Anthropic describes Semgrep using Claude through Amazon Bedrock to help detect, filter and fix findings. The account says a portion of alerts were labelled safe to ignore and reports agreement rates from users and researchers. Agreement is not proof that every suppressed alert is safe, and the story does not establish a zero-miss security system.
The mechanism worth examining
Security triage requires understanding whether a suspicious pattern is reachable and meaningful in its application context. An explanation grounded in callers and configuration can reduce investigation effort. The cost of a mistaken dismissal, however, differs from the cost of an extra warning. Evaluate both directions explicitly: false alarms retained and real risks suppressed. A pleasant or persuasive explanation is not an adequate basis for closing a finding.
The implementation decision
Use a labelled evaluation set reviewed by someone qualified to assess the relevant vulnerability class. Preserve original scanner findings during the trial. Require an explanation and source evidence for a safe-to-ignore label, then sample those dismissals independently. Keep high-impact changes and production remediation in the existing security process rather than allowing an agent’s label to authorize release.
Where the workflow can fail
The model may see a validation helper but miss a path that bypasses it. It may infer that a value is trusted because an upstream caller usually sanitizes it. Test an alternate route and a configuration change that invalidate that assumption. Source visibility also matters: an unavailable dependency should produce uncertainty, not an invented statement that the risk is mitigated elsewhere.
A practical evaluation, designed for this use case
Measure reviewer time, correct dismissals, false dismissals and useful remediation suggestions by vulnerability class. Keep a deliberately dangerous fixture in the set and inspect whether the explanation cites the actual mitigation or merely a plausible one. Use the results to decide where assistance belongs in triage. Do not advertise a security guarantee from a general average agreement percentage.

The decision matrix
Original evaluation criteria for this workflow. These are questions to test, not results measured by Roseram.
| Decision | Evidence to collect | Stop or revise when |
|---|---|---|
| Dismissal safety | Independent false-dismissal review | Persuasive explanations close real findings |
| Context sufficiency | Reachability and mitigation traced | Missing code is assumed safe |
| Release authority | Security owner approves remediation | A model label bypasses policy |

Questions this case answers
Is user agreement a security-accuracy measure?
It is feedback about the label. A security evaluation also needs missed-risk analysis and independent review.
Should AI automatically suppress every low-confidence alert?
This case does not justify that. Define a policy and test false dismissals before changing enforcement.

Wiki brief
Semgrep is examined here for ai-assisted security alert triage. The article answers “How should a team evaluate AI security-triage labels?” using linked primary material and original evaluation design. It is not a customer testimonial for Roseram or an endorsement by Semgrep.
Operator takeaways
- Measure false dismissals explicitly.
- Trace actual mitigations.
- Retain security-owner authority.
