Understand your partner reports
Read visits, leads, purchases and commissions as separate results.
Read each number by its meaning
Start with the report label and time window. Visits describe traffic; accepted signups describe a later action. Paid customers and recorded commissions have their own rules. Do not add numbers from different stages and call the total customers.
Check the update time and selected date range. A zero is a recorded value; an unavailable report is missing evidence. Keep those states separate. When a report fails, record which section failed and when, without exporting private visitor details.
Check the journey without collecting extra data
Keep your tracked referral URL intact. Test the destination and inspect the reports available to your own account. Use platform test tools for advertising events where supported; avoid creating fake purchases or treating test activity as revenue.
Advertising permission and email signup permission are separate choices. Honor opt-outs and collect only what is needed. Never place server secrets in a public page. A paid Purchase event needs a verified paid transaction, its actual value and currency, and checks against double counting.
Try these steps
- Keep the tracked referral URL intact so accepted visits can be attributed to your account. Review your Partners earnings and referral reports.
- Paid advertising tracking belongs to your own authorized dataset. Confirm required advertising permission, domain access, events and browser/server deduplication before optimizing or scaling. Never paste secret conversion tokens into public websites.
- Count a Purchase only after a verified paid transaction with actual value and currency. Trials and waitlist leads are different events. Honor opt-outs and exclude private or sensitive data from advertising events.
A real-world example
Understand your partner reports: an example to try
Practice report: 40 visits, 3 accepted signups and 0 verified purchases. The signup rate is 3 divided by 40, or 7.5%, if both counts use a compatible window and definition. It is not a purchase rate or a prediction of future revenue.

Explain these aggregate partner metrics: [counts, definitions, window and update time]. Separate traffic, signups, purchases and eligible commissions. Identify missing evidence and avoid guessing about individual visitors.
Your turn
Write a small glossary for your report and one question you would investigate before changing a campaign.
