Count what helps you learn
Use simple numbers to find your next change.
Choose a useful number
A metric is a number you watch. Count visits, replies, signups, or paid orders. Pick the one that fits your test. Likes can be nice, but they do not tell you that people bought or were helped.
Write down the starting result before you change a page. Change one main thing, then compare. Small counts can swing by chance. Do not call one good day a sure win.
Keep a short test log
Analytics tools can count page events. Choose a tool that fits your site, budget, and privacy rules. Do not put names, emails, payment details, or private notes into event names or links.
Watch costs as well as visits. Note what you spent and how much time the work took. A useful test ends with a choice: keep, change, pause, or stop.
Google Analytics can track visits and chosen actions. Cloudflare Web Analytics can show visits and page speed. Read their setup guides. Pick one tool, check its privacy rules, and test that it counts your page. Do not add tools just to fill a dashboard.
Try these steps
- Pick one goal and one number to count.
- Record the date, visits, next steps, and costs.
- Change one thing and check again after a fair test.
A real-world example
If two of 40 visits lead to a question, that is 5%. It is a small sample, not a promise. Mia tests a clearer price block before buying ads.
Ask AI for help
Copy this prompt into the tool you use. Fill in the blanks. Check what it gives you.
Help me plan a small test for ___. Choose one goal, one metric, a time limit, a cost limit, and a rule for what I will do next.
Your turn
Make a test log with five columns: date, change, visits, useful actions, and what I learned.
Notes are saved on this device only. Avoid adding private details or keys.
Read from the source
These maker and public guides help you check the details. Tools and rules can change.
