CUSTOMER ACCOUNT / ATTRIBUTED EVIDENCE
What this case establishes
This is a commercial publisher’s customer account. Roseram checked the source and wrote the analysis; it did not interview the customer, run the product, audit the figures or establish that AI caused the reported business result. The pilot below is a proposal, not a completed experiment.

Bito: the documented workflow
Anthropic’s Bito account describes AI review and coding agents using Claude. It reports an 89% reduction in pull-request cycles and a claimed return of $14 for each $1 spent on AI review. Roseram has not audited that calculation. The case treats those figures as attributed claims to examine, not a forecast of a new team’s financial outcome.
The mechanism worth examining
A return-on-investment claim combines technical behavior with accounting assumptions. If waiting time falls but no paid labor is removed or redeployed, the commercial benefit may be faster delivery rather than a cash saving. Review assistance can also reduce interruptions or regressions, which have different values. Name the economic mechanism before selecting a headline. Otherwise a team can multiply an hourly salary by every minute of calendar delay and report a fictional saving.
The implementation decision
Use an accepted-task ledger rather than counting suggestions. Include subscriptions, usage charges, setup, the time needed to classify comments and any rework created by accepted fixes. Decide whether recovered time will serve more customers, shorten a release or reduce overtime. Those are legitimate but different outcomes. Keep the assumed labor rate visible and avoid treating a contractor quote as the cost of every internal engineering hour.
Where the workflow can fail
A before-and-after comparison can improve because the team reduced patch size or added reviewers during the same period. Fast feedback can also shift effort downstream if the fix is wrong. Preserve workload notes and report unresolved causes rather than attributing every improvement to AI. Be careful with percentage reductions when the original measure mixed queue time and active review time; the two quantities may respond to very different interventions.
A practical evaluation, designed for this use case
Trial review assistance for a fixed set of representative pull requests. Record active author/reviewer minutes, queue duration, confirmed defects, false positives and tool expense. Calculate a conservative benefit using only verified recovered work, then show a range under different labor-value assumptions. Include a case where the tool adds no useful finding. A credible purchasing decision should remain understandable even when the vendor’s optimistic multiplier is excluded.

The decision matrix
Original evaluation criteria for this workflow. These are questions to test, not results measured by Roseram.
| Decision | Evidence to collect | Stop or revise when |
|---|---|---|
| Economic benefit | Recovered work has an identified use | Calendar waiting is called a cash saving |
| Expense completeness | Review and repair included | Only subscription price enters the model |
| Attribution | Task size and staffing changes recorded | All before/after improvement is called causal |

Questions this case answers
Can reduced review waiting time be valuable?
Yes, for delivery and coordination. Its value should be described without automatically converting every elapsed hour into paid labor saved.
Should I use the published ROI multiplier in my budget?
Treat it as a reported example. Build your own calculation from workload, expenses and verified outcomes.

Wiki brief
Bito is examined here for measuring ai code-review economics. The article answers “How do you measure the ROI of an AI code reviewer?” using linked primary material and original evaluation design. It is not a customer testimonial for Roseram or an endorsement by Bito.
Operator takeaways
- Identify the economic mechanism.
- Include false alarms and repair costs.
- Distinguish modeled value from realized savings.
